Sunflower Butter – Refined / Refined Source Oil

RidhSa Lipids Sunflower Butter – Refined / Refined Source Oil is a derived cosmetic butter made with refined sunflower seed oil and a declared structuring lipid system. Since sunflower oil remains liquid at ordinary room temperature, the butter-like consistency is achieved through formulation and controlled cooling rather than by extracting a naturally solid sunflower fat. Refined source oil typically offers lighter colour and reduced characteristic odour compared with virgin oil. Depending on the source cultivar, it may be linoleic-rich or high-oleic; this distinction affects oxidation stability and should be documented. The finished butter can add emollience, glide and structure to balms, body butters, creams, lotion bars and hair-care formulations. RidhSa Lipids recommends confirming the complete INCI, source oil percentage, structurant identity, melting profile and batch quality specifications.

Overview

Botanical Name Helianthus annuus L.
Cas# 8001-21-6 commonly identifies sunflower seed oil; the finished structured butter requires its complete ingredient and SDS identification.
Color White to ivory or pale cream, depending on structuring ingredients and processing.
Method Of Extraction Sunflower seed oil is extracted and refined using documented processes as applicable, such as degumming, neutralization, bleaching and deodorization; it is then combined with suitable identified structuring lipids to form a semi-solid butter.
Constituents Sunflower oil is rich in triglycerides containing linoleic and/or oleic fatty acids, depending on cultivar, with smaller palmitic and stearic fractions and tocopherols. Finished butter composition also depends on the structuring lipid system.
Solubility Insoluble in water; miscible with compatible oils and melted fats; dispersion properties depend on the complete formulation.
Specific Gravity No universal value for structured sunflower butter; measure on the finished blend at a specified temperature.
Flash Point Not routinely determined for the finished butter; request a method-specific measurement if required.

Benefits

Offers emollience and skin conditioning; helps limit moisture loss; provides glide and richness; structuring lipids add body to balms and solid cosmetic formats.

Uses

Body butters, moisturizers, lip balms, lotion bars, soaps, hand and foot creams, massage products, hair masks and customized cosmetic lipid blends.
How is refined-source sunflower butter different from virgin-source butter?
Refined oil generally has a lighter colour and milder odour; both butter grades may require structuring lipids.
Not necessarily. Most semi-solid cosmetic versions contain additional structuring ingredients.
It may be, but this must be confirmed by the supplier; high-oleic and conventional sunflower oils have different fatty-acid profiles.
No. Stability depends on fatty-acid composition, processing, antioxidants, packaging and storage; verify peroxide value and other appropriate quality parameters.
Yes, subject to ingredient-grade suitability, a complete INCI declaration and finished-product safety and stability assessment.
